Gun Shows

I went to the show last weekend and it was not quite as large as I was expecting but overall I thought it was a pretty good show. Only a few non gun related booths ( coins mostly). On a personal note I didn't really care for the food options available.

i mostly have an interest in WWII stuff and the show had a fair amount of rifles available. There were a couple of reasonable priced examples but there was an abundance of what I would consider over priced rifles and a couple of 1911A1's in the almost reasonable price range of $1500 - $1600. If you really want a non collector USGI 1911 just buy one from the CMP instead.

I really want to goto Tulsa sometime in the next year but need to sell a house first so I have $$$ to do that.

So I ended up going to Tulsa last weekend and it is every bit as large as advertised. So the good ..... I found many of the parts I was looking for. The bad was I came looking for a Remington UMC 1911 and found exactly one over price / reworked / parkerized example that I passed on. I saw every single other 1911 there for sale including a singer and several WWI Springfield 1911's. Food was overpriced at $5.00 for a bottle of water so bring your own. The show can be seen in one day but you're going to have to start at the opening time and almost run thru the show.

Being an "old guy" and retired I have the time for gun shows now. I went to the Ashland show yesterday and it is a pretty small show. LOTS of knives , shotguns and hunting rifles. I did pick up an M1 Garand as a project. It was just too good a deal to pass on. Seller told me it has an issue that It will eject the first shell but not pick up the second. So i have a winter project now.
