Carrying my shotgun

I have a semi auto shotgun that runs on the AR platform and I'm curious about the right way to transport it in my car. Would it be okay to just lay it on the front passenger seat without securing it? Or should I consider getting a mounting system to keep it locked down while I'm driving?

Depends on why you are transporting it. If you are out hunting and moving from stand to stand and you are on a public access, that could get you into trouble with KYDFWR for hunting from a vehicle if it is loaded. If you're just driving around, secure it so it does not get scratched if it falls on the floor.

What car do you drive? If it's an SUV or a truck, you can put it under the seat or behind it.

Carry in a case in the vehicle. Locked in the trunk. Shotgun is not a vehicle carried “self defense” option. ( what do ya do when you get out of the car?)
