Curious what everyone throws on when heading to the range. Not talking full-on gear setups — just regular clothes.

I’ve been out a few times recently and started paying more attention to what folks are wearing. One thing I’ve noticed: camo kind of sticks out in a weird way, especially if you’re just doing basic drills or running a few mags through the rifle. Not knocking it — wear what you want — but it feels a little over-the-top to me unless you’re out in the woods.

I’ve been leaning toward neutral stuff: jeans, plain shirt, boots. Something that’s comfortable, safe (no sandals obviously), and doesn’t scream 'tacticool.'

Anyone else feel that way? Or am I just overthinking it? What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen someone wear to the range? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Way too many young bucks have a Walter Mitty problem and love to pretend their bad a— with their tacticool crap (I’ve seen ads for “tactical” underwear & socks for Pete’s sake. Wear what you wear everyday (for me it’s jeans and a t shirt (or sweatshirt in winter).. I’ve seen ninja commando’s in full black bdu’s, with thigh holsters and mag pouches out the wazzoo. Obvious question is “why”? You get attacked or your house broken into are you gonna call a “time out” to play dress up or you going to act? Good friend is retired Special Forces captain- he has seen and done more, and is a heck of a lot tougher than any of these wannabe’s. He’s in cowboy boots, jeans and a flannel shirt in cool weather or a t shirt if it’s hot. He’s doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone, and laughs at the toy soldiers playing dress up.
