Do thread protectors serve a real purpose, or are they just for show?
Thread protectors seem minor until you nick threads once...after that, they stay on pretty much all the time.Thread protectors, they actually do a lot more than just look good. They keep your threads clean and help protect the crown of the barrel, especially if you’re a bit clumsy with muzzle devices. I always use them on my barrels when I’m trying out different compensators or brakes, it just makes swapping them back and forth a lot easier without messing up the threads.
