Do any of you hunt with single shot rifles?

In my old age, I've become interested in the single shot rifles for deer sized game hunting. I've been lucky with them, I think that I've become much more careful in choosing my shots and generally take that extra moment to make sure I get a good shot.

Here are some of my single shot rifles.

Ruger No. 1 in 270 Win

Ruger No. 1 RSI in 7x57 Mauser

Ruger No. 3 in 30-40 Krag

I love it! There’s just something about single-shot rifles that changes the rhythm of a hunt. You’re not rushing through it and you’re not worrying about follow-up shots. It’s a whole different mindset compared to using a bolt or a semi-auto. Honestly, I think a lot of people end up shooting better with a single-shot because it makes you slow down and focus. It’s always nice to see someone enjoying the simple things instead of chasing after the latest tactical fads.
