Modern service pistols

Do the newest service handguns actually show any real advancement or are they simply the same old designs with a fresh coat of paint?

Rehash of old designs. The latest greatest holds no real advantage over an old P35 from the 1930’s. Same with cartridges. What can be done pretty much HAS been done. New pistols/ new calibers are designed to stimulate new sales-not to offer any true advantages.
