I’ve recently been spending more time here in Kentucky and I’ve noticed that open carry seems to be a lot more common than where I come from. I’m curious if anyone else regularly practices open carry and what issues did you experience or something.

No, never do so unless I’m (1) working here on the farm, or (2) hunting. Open carrying in a public area (1) scares the sheeple; (2) presents a thug with an open invitation to try to steal the pistol ; and (3) is like wearing a sign boldly stating “shoot me first” should you walk in on a crime being committed. I’ll stay the grey man thank you.

I have in the past, open carried a fair amount. I got a lot of positive comments. Lots of folks asking me what it takes to be able to carry a gun in the state. I informed them of the laws regarding carrying a firearm both openly and concealed.

I don't OC now, because I had a chance encounter with animal control, not related to my animal, but because I was visibly armed, all of their attention was on me. I was instructed to disarm. I decided from that moment, that I would conceal anytime it was within my means.

Most of the encounters I've had with law enforcement have been positive.

I was asked to leave goodwill once. The woman walked up to me, nervously, and asked if I was a cop. I said no, and she asked me if I would take my firearm out to the car. I said no, but I'll leave.

I went to the emergency room once as a patient, and someone spotted my gun under my gown. Security came up to me and asked me if I had a firearm. I said yes, and they asked if I'd take it out to my vehicle. They were quite nice about it.
