What safety points do you prioritize when introducing new shooters in winter compared to summer sessions?

None. Firearm safety is firearm safety-year around. I’m always amazed at folks who carry heavier handguns in winter because they can conceal them under a heavy coat. That’s true, but if your bundled up like Nanook of the North that spiffy blaster under 3 layers isn’t going to do you much good in a hurry.

Good point. Concealment may be easier in winter but accessibility matters too. A handgun that’s quick and consistent to draw year-round is often a better choice than one that's buried under layers when you need it most.

Cold hands kill fine motor skills faster than anything else. I make sure everyone’s hands are warm and working before we get down to business.
