Aftermarket barrels over stock barrels?

Aftermarket barrels don’t come cheap. For those who’ve taken the plunge, what noticeable differences did you find over the stock barrel? In hindsight, do you feel those upgrades were worth the money?

I think it might depend on the platform. Are we taking about AR's ,M1 Garland's , Pistols ?

For rifles it's all about accuracy. So it's Kriegers, Broughton, or PacNors usually for me. There are a lot of great barrel makers out there but these guys generally offer something particular that I like. Krieger for their single point cut rifling that I can always trust. Broughton still offers gain twist rifling that I find intriguing and Pac Nor offers their three groove barrels with wide lands that seem to last longer in the hot overbore loads. Consistency at long range is not cheap.
