It depends on the noise. The hardest part of the job is diagnosing what the actual problem is.
I've had stuff stuck between the drum and the seal that made a squealing noise that I was able to fix. If you find a bad bearing then you can change it out if you can find the parts but that leads to the question of why the bearing failed initially. I had a terrible vibration and noise issue on a high efficiency washer that was a broken drum mount that bolts into the frame and holds the bearing that supports the drum. It was a large cast aluminum spider that literally cracked in half. The replacement part cost was over 2/3rd's the cost of replacing the entire machine.
